but this weekend epitomizes the saying:

but keep the old.
one is silver,
the other is gold.
i love meeting new people, and expanding my circle of friends and acquaintances, but there is nothing like those who "knew you when ..."
since moving back to edmonton (and the global domination of facebook), i have reconnected to one degree or another with a large number of friends from as far back as elementary school. today, when i went to my new ward for the first time, i was welcomed by familiar faces and enjoyed meeting some more new people. i have never felt UNwelcome in ward, but i have NEVER felt so welcome as i do right now. it doesn't hurt that i have some good friends there already, but people in the ward emailed me and called me even before i showed up for my first sunday, and have even put me to work this week! i don't have the right words to express how much this means to me - but suffice to say, i needed that little pick me up and the reminder that there really is a place for everyone.
as anyone who has known me for any period of time knows, i don't let go of friends ... ever! i am excited to maintain blossoming friendships started in the last year and a bit, and am looking forward to getting updated on the good friends from days gone by ... what a gift!

Hooray! I'm so glad you feel so welcome in your new ward! :)
sounds awesome!
yay! you have a blog! i'm glad that jolyn told you the address to my blog so we could keep in touch again. i had no idea you moved back to edmonton. when? we were up there at christmas time. we could have come and said hello. that would be nice, considering when we are up there everybody is a new face. it would be nice to actually know somebody and to see you.
i'm glad you like your new ward.
I have to say that I was just as happy to see you and have you in my ward. When mom told me you were moving in I was pretty excited. I need more allies there!!!!
